2-wire loop powered inline ultrasonic flowmeter
The new Endress+Hauser Prosonic Flow 92F is the world’s first 2-wire loop powered inline ultrasonic flowmeter. It is another state of the art ultrasonic flowmeters within the Prosonic Flow product range. The new model 92F is a new winning combination consisting of a 2 wire loop powered transmitter and multi-beam ultrasonic inline sensor. A combination offering easy electrical and mechanical installation with minimal space requirement and high accuracy

The new flowmeter is suitable for service in compact process plants in the chemical industry. It is applicable to electrical non conductive liquids as well as conductive liquids. It is a natural extension of the application range of electromagnetic flowmeters for both process as well as utility applications. The application range includes solvent and hydrocarbon derivatives.

The Prosonic Flow 92 transmitter is based on a successful transmitter already used within the company.

The transmitter is available in three output versions:

4 to 20 mA HART 4 to 20 mA HART with additional status/pulse output Profibus PA

The system integration is supported through a Device Type Management (DTM) program and Field Device Tool (FDT) technology. The Transmitter requires virtually no programming during the initial setup. Only the actual flow range has to be defined. The HISTOROM T-Dat placed in the front of the transmitter offers software independent data management where the transmitter setup and the sensor calibration data can be stored as a backup.

The Prosonic Flow F sensor is a multi-beam sensor consisting of a stainless steel sensor body, flanged process connections and 2, 3 or 4 pairs of ultrasonic sensors. The sensor pairs are located in two arrays on each side of the sensor body at an angle symmetrical around the sensor body axis. The ultrasonic sensors are welded into the sensor body removing the requirement for additional process gaskets.

The configuration of the ultrasonic sensors ensures an optimal scanning of the flow velocity distribution in the measuring section of the sensor, reducing the requirement for upstream straight pipe to less than five times the pipe diameter.

Prosonic Flow 92F offers high accuracy (better than 0.5% optional 0.3%) and cost effective non invasive flow measurement. The measurement requires no mechanical interaction with the flow making it virtually maintenance free and without additional pressure drop.

The data management can also be performed remotely by means of the configuration tool FieldCare or locally by Fieldtool and the service interface FXA291 via the Common Data Interface (CDI). The CDI is also used by the verification tool FieldCheck.
The diagnostic codes of the transmitter are organized according to the VDE/NAMUR guidelines. These were recently implemented as a part of a common Endress+Hauser standard for field devices offering device independent diagnostic messages.
