The Endress+Hauser Water Challenge wants to improve access to clean water around the world

Many people around the world don’t take water for granted, because for them it’s a scarce resource. With the Water Challenge, Endress+Hauser is applying its business commitment to a safe, economical and environmentally friendly water supply to the non-profit sector.

A third water house was officially opened at the end of January thanks to the Endress+Hauser Water Challenge.

Since 2019, employees around the world have been fundraising via charity runs to ensure people have access to clean drinking water. The company matches each of the donations, with the proceeds going to select aid projects in Asia, South America and Africa.

Three times around the world

In the anniversary phase of the Endress+Hauser Water Challenge in 2023, over 600 participants from 20 countries covered an impressive total of 133,049 kilometers. In mathematical terms, they circumnavigated the Earth more than three times.

The funds raised made it possible to construct two additional water houses Kon Tum, a province in central Vietnam, where a first was built in 2022. Three villages now have reliable access to clean drinking water, simplifying the lives of 2,500 people who live in this rural region, including more than 500 families.

Every drop counts

Other projects were also successfully realized thanks to the proceeds from the Endress+Hauser Water Challenge. Around 10,000 Swiss francs raised from the first charity run in 2019 was used to drill a new 100-meter-deep well in the village of Kon Bdeh in Vietnam, tap the spring, install a pump and erect a water house. This safeguarded the water supply for 800 residents.

In India, the construction of a wastewater treatment plant in the village of Donwada was completed in 2022. Another project in the Philippines, south of Manila, provides 400 people with sustainable access to clean water and sanitation.

Wish for more

Plans are in place to continue this success story in 2024. The goal of the next Water Challenge is to construct a water project in Bushbuckridge, South Africa. As with all projects, Endress+Hauser ensures that all donations are received through personal contacts and presence on site.
